Whew…. Where did February go?
Survived a Tsunami scare this past weekend, cheered Team USA and the other fine international athletes in Vancouver for the Winter Olympics and recently celebrated Chinese New Year (Kung Hei Fat Choy!!) here in Hawaii. It’s the year of the tiger. Coincidentally, PIMPBOT has a new song called “Tiger” that will be on the new album this summer. If that doesn’t bring us luck… nothing will. Oh yeah… a new horn section means a new single! “Used To Have Fun” is ready to go and it’s coming out very, VERY, soon so follow us on your favorite social network!!
Lucky 9 Years!:
Help celebrate 9 years of PIMPBOT in Hawaii!!! The 9th Anniversary Show will be at Hawaiian Brian’s on March 12th with special guests Missing Dave and Friends of Adam. Be prepared to catch some swag from our homies at House of Flys Waikiki and maybe some free giveaways of our new single! A $10 cover gets you ALL ACCESS to a night of great music, billiards, and ALL the cool games at Hawaiian Brian’s. Bring tons of friends because this is a two-fer party also celebrating our send-off as we make the trek to Austin, Texas and the South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival.
SXSW:
PIMPBOT will be headlining the Hawaii Showcase at Submerged on Friday, March 19th for SXSW in Austin, TX. Reel Big Fish:
Hellz yeah, PIMPBOT was selected to open for Reel Big Fish! Thanks to everyone that gave their support at the showcase battle. You showed the promoters that PIMPBOT and their fans can make a venue erupt with madness. The Reel Big Fish concert will be on March 5th @ Pipeline Cafe and tickets can be purchased here.
The Vandals:
Don’t forget The Vandals are coming back to Hawaii and PIMPBOT is opening up for ‘em! March 13th at Anna Bananas. For tickets and info, click here.

Thanks to all the peeps that continue to buy PIMPBOT swag. The PIMPBOT shot glass (as seen below) continues to be a hot item. Do you have one? By the way, all that dough from merch sales goes directly to our SXSW trip in a few weeks so come out to a show and buy some cool stuff. Happy New Year from PIMPBOT!
Reel Big Fish:
PIMPBOT will be competing for an opening slot for the upcoming Reel Big Fish concert. We need your support on this one! Not to mention we’ll be celebrating Ray & Eric’s birthdays! See you at Anna Banannas, Friday Feb. 5th. Show starts at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased in advanced here.
SXSW:
The South by Southwest Music and Media Conference and Festival has invited PIMPBOT back to represent Hawaii. This year’s music festival will run from March 17-21in Austin, TX. Check out SXSW.com for more info. Also returning this year is our good friend, Maui sensation, Anuhea.

New PIMPBOT horns recorded!
Curious to hear what our new horn section sounds like? Well is you’re too far or lazy to come to a show, check out the new “Banana Split” CD from Old Habits Die Hard & False Crack. Mahalo 2009
This has been another historical year for us. Among other things, it was our first year where we toured twice! That may sound like a small accomplishment but being that we live in Hawaii, it’s a pretty big deal. Here’s some 2009 highlights:
- First rock band to represent Hawaii at 2009 SXSW Music & Media festival in Austin, TX.
- Nominated for best ska album – Hawaii Music Award
- Award Winner for best album art (Pimpbot – “Admit One”) – Hawaii Music Award
- Nominated for best rock album – Na Hoku Hanohano Award
- 2009 Armed Forces Entertainment Asian-Pacific Tour (see the pics here!)
- PIMPBOT first full horn section – Fernando (trombone), Nic (trumpet), and Ray (tenor sax)
Hello 2010
As always, we thank people like you for supporting us because without you guys, there’s no reason to keep going. To show our appreciation, we plan on going strong in 2010. Here’s what we plan to deliver:
- A fresh, new look to our website, myspace, facebook, twitter, etc. With new band pics and all that good stuff.
- 3rd full-length album
- 3rd international tour

Wheeew…. September came and went! But we’re back with some news for ya’ll.
First off, belated September birthday greetings to PIMPBOT guitarist, Tom “Tommy Utah” Coleman, and PIMPBOT’s merch man/security/tour driver, “King” Aaron Pughes.
AFE Asia Tour 2009
We spent a good part of September touring Asia thanks to our awesome pals at Armed Forces Entertainment (AFE). It was an awesome experience performing for our overseas troops stationed in Guam, Japan, S. Korea and Okinawa. Special shout out to our entire crew, fellow AFE performers and friends/family: AFE, MWR, MCCS, Frank T, CT, Frankie, Franchon, Mr. Yi, Mr. Hwang, Ai, Midori, Anuhea and band, Warren & Jamie, Chicago Hot Rox Dancers, The Acabado’s, The Carina’s, Heean Ko, Barbara K, The Fish Doctors.

How was your summer? Did you fall in love? You did? It won’t last. Just kidding.
Real quick, some things in the world of PIMPBOT we wanted to share with you…
Rylan is back! – We’re thankful to have Rylan come back to the band. Rylan made his official return to the bass at last week’s show with Missing Dave. Some of you were lucky to see a few shows this summer where Rylan played keyboard while he was recovering. A big mahalo goes out to Nelson Fisher Jr for keeping Rylan’s seat warm. He’s working on some big things of his own so keep an eye out for him.
Asia-Pacific Tour – Next month, we’re heading out on our 2nd tour this year! For the first time, we’re heading towards the otherside of the Pacific to entertain our troops. There’s also a few festival dates on the tour where the military bases will be open to the public.
